Dr. Meredith K. Reffner Collins

I recently presented the findings from a content analysis of 20 popular movies featuring adolescent and young adult cancer at this year's APOS Conference in New Orleans.

This is my second year attending APOS, and I can't say enough about this conference. It was awesome to see familiar and new faces, and there is always an awesome lineup of research presented.

My presentation was on an AYA-themed panel, where I presented after Lori Wiener, PhD, DCSW, LCSW-C, of the NIH and Abby Westerman, CEO of b-present. Both are absolutely awesome individuals and had really insightful research to present.

Outside of my presentation, I attended Dr. Christina Amaro's presentation of the development of a single-session intervention for teen siblings of children with cancer. I was fortunate enough to have a hand in some of this project, and I enjoyed hearing about how other single-session interventions are being developed and implemented in oncology care.
